High West's Son of Bourye, distilled in a 250-gallon copper pot still, marries bourbon ("bou") and rye in a unique blend. Crafted by master distiller Brendan Coyle, it combines five-year-old bourbon (75% corn, 20% rye, 5% barley malt) with five-year-old rye (95% rye, 5% barley malt) in a secret ratio. This innovative whiskey offers not just a new flavor but a novel drinking experience. High West founder David Perkins explains, "We enjoy experimenting with bold whiskies," noting the Son of Bourye's acclaim, including a 92-point rating from Wine Enthusiast and a place among the Top 50 Spirits of 2012. The original Bourye has already gained legendary status, and the Son of Bourye promises to add to its lore.
