The Yamazaki 12 year old whiskey is without a doubt one of the best 12 year old whiskies in the world. Winner of the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2009 and 2013, this whiskey has a mash bill that is 100% malted barley fermented with water sourced only from the foothills of Mount Tenno and later matured in casks made from American, Spanish and Japanese Oak. The nose features hints of grapefruit, peaches, oranges and spices and the taste screams of vanilla, coconut and cranberries. Unlike most 12 year old whiskies, this one is meant to be savored and consumed neat and it stands as a perfect example of delicate and complex Japanese whiskey craftsmanship.
