This 2015 release of this award winning bourbon is a blend of only 26 barrels because 66% of the original barreled whiskey evaporated. That means there’s not a lot to go around. This bourbon has an oak presence but is not an oak bomb that one would expect for a 17-year-old whiskey. The oak is present, but is kept in check. There are also hints of burnt caramel, barrel char, and tobacco. The burnt caramel note grows in prominence the more the whiskey sits in the glass. Another terrific release from Baffalo Trace.
