"The one California/French blend I tasted was absolutely outrageously delicious, representing 50% Grenache from his vineyards in the sun-drenched Languedoc-Roussillon appellation of Maury, blended with 50% Grenache from California – specifically from Napa’s Stagecoach Vineyard and other vineyards farther north in Mendocino and to the south as well. There are about 500 cases of this wine, called the Proprietary Red The Commute (all from 2013, even though it’s illegal under wine law to list the vintage). This wine is terrific stuff with a dense ruby/purple color and a gorgeous nose of licorice, kirsch liqueur, pepper, grilled meats and Mediterranean garrigue. Full-bodied with great purity, it’s one of the handful of international blends I’ve tasted that actually works and shows remarkable expressiveness and individuality." Wine Advocate - 96 Points
