Produced by the Midleton Distillery in Co. Cork, Green Spot was originally created by Mitchell & Son Wine Merchants. The Mitchells initially purchased full casks of mature whiskey from the Jameson Bow Street Distillery and transported them to their bonded warehouse on Fitzwilliam Lane. When these casks reached certain ages, they would mark them with a colored spot to signify these milestones. A green spot indicated 10 years of aging. These whiskeys became highly sought after and iconic, leading Irish Distillers to recreate the brand.
