Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt is a meticulous recreation of the whisky Ernest Shackleton took to Antarctica in 1907 for his Nimrod expedition. Abandoned in 1909 and rediscovered over a century later, the original malt was analyzed, revealing its 47.3% ABV, Orkney-peated profile, and maturation in American white oak sherry casks. Inspired by this, a blend of Glen Mhor, Dalmore, and Speyside malts was crafted, resulting in a light honey-colored whisky with a soft, refined aroma and a harmonious yet exhilarating taste—a true tribute to history.
