Frank August Case Study: 01 | Mizunara is the inaugural release in the brand’s experimental series aimed at redefining bourbon through unique finishing and blending techniques. For this expression, five hand-selected barrels were finished in rare Mizunara oak, with maturation closely monitored to capture the wood’s influence. Once the desired flavor profile—marked by butterscotch and subtle baking spices—was achieved, the whiskey was batched and bottled at 114.4 proof. This limited release highlights the complexity and elegance imparted by Japanese oak on American bourbon.
