Stitzel Weller 'D.H. Cromwell - Dirty Helen's' 15 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon

$899.00

D.H. Cromwell Bourbon was first released in 2000 when Louisville retailer Gordon Jackson acquired a 15-year single barrel bourbon from Julian Van Winkle III. The whiskey was bottled under the name D.H. Cromwell, referencing Helen “Dirty Helen” Cromwell, a well-known Milwaukee speakeasy owner active during the Prohibition era.

Produced by Old Commonwealth Distillery. The bourbon was sourced from mature stocks and selected after evaluating more than one hundred barrels, with four barrels ultimately chosen for the final blend. The whiskey uses a mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley.

After selection, the barrels were re-barreled into new charred oak casks from Kelvin Cooperage for six months before blending. The final whiskey was bottled at 106 proof following internal tastings that determined it best reflected the balance and character of the release.
