Part of Buffalo Trace’s groundbreaking Single Oak Project, this rye-recipe bourbon was barreled at 125 proof and aged 12 years in a #3 char oak barrel made from tightly grained wood, stored in the upper half of Rickhouse K. The project’s 192 unique barrels, created from 96 American oak trees, allowed Buffalo Trace to analyze how grain density, char level, warehouse position, and aging conditions influence flavor—making it one of the most ambitious whiskey experiments ever conducted.
