From Buffalo Trace’s historic Single Oak Project, this rye-recipe bourbon was barreled at 125 proof and aged 6 years in a #3 char oak barrel from a tightly grained tree, stored in the lower half of Rickhouse K. The project, involving 192 unique barrels from 96 oak trees, explored how variables such as grain density, seasoning, char level, and warehouse environment influence flavor—representing one of the most comprehensive whiskey experiments ever conducted.
