From Buffalo Trace’s pioneering Single Oak Project, this wheated bourbon was barreled at 125 proof and aged 12 years in a #4 char new oak barrel stored in the lower half of Concrete Warehouse L. The project used 192 unique barrels from 96 oak trees, each varying by grain, seasoning, char, and aging conditions, to study how these factors influence flavor—marking one of the most ambitious bourbon experiments in history.
