Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection Wheat 105 (Experiment 2 of 4) is a wheated bourbon distilled on October 24, 2001 and barreled on October 25, 2001 at an entry proof of 105. Aged for 11 years and 7 months in charred white oak barrels with a #4 char and staves air-dried for three months by Independent Stave Co., the whiskey matured in Warehouse K. This two-barrel release was bottled on June 14, 2013 at 90 proof. The experiment examined how a 105 entry proof influences wheated bourbon, producing a balanced profile of sweet caramel, vanilla, and dry oak notes.
