James Buchanan's 'Black & White' Blended Scotch (1950's Bottling)

$549.00

Black & White, originally House of Commons whisky, was created by James Buchanan and named for its black-and-white label. Buchanan also designed its terrier mascot in the 1890s. Merging with Dewar’s (1915) and later DCL, it is now owned by Diageo.

Buchanan, born in Ontario in 1849, moved to Scotland and launched his blend in 1884, crafting it for the English palate. Renamed Black & White in 1902, it remains in production. Key contributors include Port Dundas, Dalwhinnie, Clynelish, and Glendullan distilleries.

This bottle, from the mid-to-late 1950s, features a classic Spring-Cap closure.
