The Balvenie Founder’s Reserve predates the DoubleWood range and its emphasis on cask finishing. It is a combination of single malts matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, developed by Malt Master David Stewart. First introduced in the early 1980s in cognac-style bottles, later releases adopted the standard Balvenie packaging. Once a core expression, it was discontinued in 2009.
