2017 Sine Qua Non The Third Twin Nuestra Senora (OWC)

The Second edition from The Third Twin estate, "Nuestra Senora Del Tercer Gemelo," now features primarily Grenache. Due to a potential trademark dispute, it may be renamed "The Other Lady." Viognier's small proportion, co-fermented with red grapes, adds complexity, utilizing frozen white berries to cool and slow fermentation. Bottled on May 22, 2020, after 32 months in 12% new French oak, the 2017 blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Petite Sirah, Graciano, Syrah, and Viognier with 18% whole clusters presents vibrant red and black cherries, raspberry coulis, pomegranate, lilacs, crushed rocks, and damp soil aromas. The full-bodied palate harmonizes impressive freshness and a firm, grainy texture, concluding with fragrant earth and black truffle layers. While hints suggest aging potential, the present assessment reflects its unique and exciting character. Limited production: 428 cases.
