2011 Roger Sabon Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Le Secret des Sabon

$139.99

"The tiny production 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape le Secret des Sabon is a blend of roughly 90% Grenache and the balance a mix of varieties, that’s aged all in 600-liter barrels. The most voluptuous and textured of the 2011s, with mouth-filling levels of fruit, it is a seriously impressive effort, especially in the vintage. Showing gorgeous blackberry, raspberry, licorice, crushed flowers and assorted Provencal herbs, this full-bodied, seamless and textured Chateauneuf is supple and approachable by this cuvee’s standards, yet should nevertheless evolve gracefully for another 10-15 years. Drink 2014-2028. A fantastic estate that covers close to 44 acres throughout the appellation, Domaine Roger Sabon was created by Roger Sabon in 1952. The estate was taken over by Roger’s sons (Jean-Jacques, Denis and Gilbert) in 1976, and since 2001, the wines are made by Didier Negron, who is Jean-Jacques’ stepson. The estate produces upward of four red Chateauneufs in a given vintage and one white. In addition, they release a solid Cotes du Rhone and Lirac." - 95/100 Wine Advocate
