Located high in the Upper Douro, Quinta de Vargellas, acquired by Taylor in 1893, is the estate's crown jewel. Once devastated by phylloxera, it now produces a significant portion of Taylor's Vintage Ports. In years when a full Taylor's Vintage is not declared, Quinta de Vargellas is bottled as a single quinta vintage port, made from estate-grown grapes, aged in wood for two years, and bottled similarly to a declared vintage.
