Château Ausone, named after Roman scholar Decimus Magnus Ausonius, has an uncertain historical link to him. Family disputes between the Dubois-Chalon and Vauthier families disrupted operations from the 1970s until Alain Vauthier took full control in the late 1990s. Today, he runs the estate with his daughter Pauline and consultant Michel Rolland. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A in 1959, Ausone is known for its unique terroir.
